- My work is about the redesign of social systems (1, 2, 3), not purely about “values”. This includes redesigning companies and economies—the contexts where designers work.
- I’ve never said (nor do I believe) that ideologies “are bad.” Quite the contrary, I often say that ideological efforts to create norms are healthy and there’s a great econ / game theory literature on the optimal creation of norms (I especially like this paper).
- Furthermore, I’m working with others to create a kind of popular ideology around new models of human nature. Although I usually use the term “social imaginary”, not ideology. (A social imaginary is particular kind of ideology, see Charles Taylor’s book on the subject).
