There are always people and organizations with power or prestige in the previous paradigm but not the next. The clergy lost out in the enlightenment, the monarchy with the rise of individual goals, etc.

There’s violence if the dispossessed group decides to fight.

That’s most likely when: (a) their new lives look really bad, and (b) they see the transition coming and hope to stop it.

I doubt these conditions will obtain for the coming transition. But we’ll see.
