These are great questions. To answer them would take a book, and so far I only know about half of what that book would contain. There’s a lot of research left to do.

But I will say this:

  • There are ways to find users’ values at scale.
  • It’s often possible to serve user populations with contradictory values, but it’s a tricky design challenge and not always possible.
  • Employees will be best at working on products that are roughly aligned with their values.
